2013 PINOT NOIR, Russian River Valley
WINE MAKING STYLE
Old World, using traditional methods and techniques. Aged in French Oak Barrels for eight months on lees (known as Sur Lie) for depth and complexity, especially on the finish. The wine was then racked into barrels for another three months to help clarify it before bottling. We add only enough Sulfur Dioxide to keep the wine free of bacteria and unwanted yeast. We bottled this wine un-fined and un-filtered for full aromatic expression.
The nose is bright, with floral notes, full of cherry and red fruit with some herbal and earthiness much like wild mushrooms. The mouthfeel is silky, full and beautifully balanced with an enduring finish.
The good thing about Pinot Noir is that it goes well with almost anything. However, this particular wine will pair exceptionally well with goat cheese or grilled pork loin.
